BarTrace Privacy Policy

Effective date: 27 August 2026

BarTrace is a barbell training app for iPhone and Apple Watch. This policy explains what happens to your data. The short version: it stays on your devices.

We do not collect your data

BarTrace has no server, no account system and no sign-up. We do not receive, store or have access to any information about you or your training. There is no analytics service, no advertising network and no third-party software development kit in the app.

What the app records and where it is stored

When you record a set, the Apple Watch app captures motion sensor data: accelerometer, gyroscope and device attitude readings taken while you lift. That recording is transferred directly to the BarTrace app on your paired iPhone using Apple's device-to-device connectivity. The iPhone app analyses it and stores the results, which include rep count, range of motion, tempo, bar velocity, velocity loss, detected sticking points and the reconstructed bar path.

All of this is held in the app's own storage on your iPhone and Apple Watch. None of it is transmitted to us or to anyone else.

Apple Health and HealthKit

BarTrace records each set inside a workout session so that measurement continues while your wrist is down and your phone is out of reach. With your permission, the app writes the workout to Apple Health on your device.

We follow Apple's HealthKit requirements:

You can review and withdraw the app's Health permissions at any time in the Health app, under Sharing, or in Settings, under Privacy & Security, then Health.

Data you control

Your training data lives on your devices, so you control it:

Children

BarTrace is not directed at children and does not knowingly gather information from anyone. Because no data is collected, no data about a child of any age reaches us.

Changes to this policy

If the app ever changes in a way that affects this policy, for example by adding an optional sync or export feature, we will update this page and the effective date above before that version is released.
